The Shadow Home Secretary today marked National Police Memorial Day, an annual day to remember police officers who have tragically lost their lives in the line of duty, and to recognise the courage and dedication displayed day in day out by officers in spite of these grave risks.
This year, National Police Memorial Day takes place in the aftermath of the tragic death of police sergeant Matiu Ratana, who was killed whilst on duty in Croydon on Friday. In his remarks, Nick Thomas-Symonds MP paid tribute to Sgt Ratana, and gave his condolences to his family, friends and fellow officers.
